Dark Child

Darkness Never Dies (Part 1)

I watched as my daughter sat on the swingset. I’m worried about Sage. Since her father died, nothing has been the same. No one should ever have to go through a death like that, let alone a 12-year-old girl. Sam was the sweetest father and a loving husband. He created love and gave it out to everyone around him. I still can’t figure out who could hate him so much. Whoever it is, I wish them a swift trip to hell. Sooner rather than later would be preferable.

Climate Change is a Crisis. It’s Time to Face It.

The King said, “The third question is, how many seconds of time are there in eternity.” Then said the shepherd boy, “In Lower Pomerania is the Diamond Mountain, which is two miles and a half high, two miles and a half wide, and two miles and a half in depth; every hundred years a little...

Depressed Person

My Depression and Anxiety Made Me a Better Person

My depression and anxiety have been with me for a very long time. They used to be everyday companions. Now, I am lucky enough that my depression is only an occasional visitor. It started when I was in middle school. At first, it was just an itch that said nasty things in the back...

Man Worrying

Mental Health and Men- It’s Time to Talk

Be a man. Don’t be such a pussy. Men don’t cry. Man up. Boys will be boys. Don’t be a fag. She has you whipped. I see who wears the pants in your relationship. There was a time when men were men.
The worst part is that I could keep going for a long time. These phrases are examples of toxic masculinity. Not only has it taken a toll on society as a whole, but toxic masculinity can be a severe detriment to one’s mental health.

Can We Still Trust the Catholic Church?

This year, we have seen a lot of news coming out of the Catholic church, and not good news. It seemed to shock everyone involved, but it should not come as a shock to anyone. The Catholic Church has been abusing its power almost unchecked for thousands of years.

what I learned

My Writing Hiatus: What I Have Learned.

I became busy and I made up excuses to not write. That was my first mistake. A writer writes and I let myself forget why I write. It is for the love of the art. I enjoy doing it. My reasons were simple and uncomplicated and can apply to many writers that find themselves in a rut.

IPAs: A Drink for Every Day?

IPAs have been a consumer staple of the craft beer community for some time now, and there are some people who swear by them. They love the style’s bitterness, complexity, and overall dependable enjoyability. IPAs are not going anywhere anytime soon, and they shouldn’t. That being said, some people only drink IPAs and have not really delved into other styles. They’re missing out.

Barrel Runner

Founders: Barrel Runner

Barrel Runner is an imperial IPA aged in rum barrels. Jack Sparrow would certainly approve and so do I. This brew is a unique perspective on the style solely because of the creativity of aging in rum barrels. Founders Brewing is striving for greatness with Founders’ Barrel Runner. This is not your run of the mill IPA. Because of this, you will not be left unsatisfied with an IPA that tastes the same as all the others.

Beer Snob

I Am A “Beer Snob”- And Proud

While most people use the term “beer snob” as a four letter word in social circles, I am proud of it. The definition above was taken from Urban Dictionary. While there were other definitions, this one was the most appropriate. The term beer snob is a term used in many cases for people like myself. These people are passionate about beer and they love to show it. We love the variety and the sense of community that comes with drinking craft beer. As a self-declared beer snob I am proud of it. I have found something I am passionate about and I’m not the only one. There are some people that take it too far and I am going to dub those people “beer assholes” in a section to come. If you have been called a beer snob, please read on.
